Three posts in four days. This posting thing could get easier if I keep up with it and it becomes habit.

Anyway, another day of supervised visitation down. I'm annoyed with M, a little. I mean, I get that you can't spend every moment active with your kids. I don't, I can't, I have too much to do. But sitting on the couch for an hour playing with your phone while Sara and I get stuck refereeing who's turn it is with WiiFit is a little much. You'd think with how upset he was when he couldn't see them at all that he'd want to spend more time...

But I'm being unfair. Like I said, I can't spend every moment of every weekend day with Bernie Robert either, but it's usually because I have things to do like grading, or lesson planning.

In other news, I've discovered something awesome. That FLAG site that allows you to download fanfic in epub format. Because then, I can load it into ReadBookz on my phone, and it will read them out loud. I have fanfiction audiobooks now, for my car. I'm listening to Shifts, by Fernwithy right now. I've got a bunch more lined up. And I have an app on my phone that changes the default Text to Speech voice to a voice with a British accent. The TtS system isn't perfect, and it certainly butchers non-standard words like, Muggle, and a lot of the spells, but it's better than nothing. And FLAG is compatible with Archive of Our Own, so I could in theory download Vorkosigan fic, too.

Oh! And it turns out that PhoenixSong will be celebrating it's 10 anniversary soon! It's like...synchronicity. Jung would be have a field day with this one: I re-read my Defining Moments series. That leads me to start picking through some of my old favorites. Then I find out about the new movie, in the same week. And now, PhoenixSong is celebrating 10 years, almost on top of this. If there's a clearer sign that I should dust off quill and parchment and start writing fic again, I don't know what is. So...we'll see how long it takes, but I think I'll try and squeeze some time in for that.

Anyway, that's all for tonight.

Heh. That's how it starts, Gov. Post a little, then post a little more. Next thing you know, you look up and find you haven't missed a day in the past week/month/6 months/year/5 years...

I don't think you're being unfair. I know it's not easy on M, but it's inconveniencing/affecting you and your family, too. It's frustrating enough when someone is over and spends an hour on his/her phone and you don't have to deal with their kids; adding them into the mix (along with everything else you've got to do) is not a small deal. Really, what it's showing me is that you and Sara are lovely, wonderful people (and no, being annoyed doesn't change that, IMO).

The FLAG site is awesome. I like to put my favorite fics into my kindle app, so I've got them if I want to read them again. :)

And, YAY for writing! If you decide you need a beta/someone to help with posting to PS or whatever, drop me a note. I'll be happy to help. :)

The other thing I love is the Internet Wayback Machine. I've been able to find sites that have gone away because of it.

Speaking of finding things, any thoughts on that other fic I was looking for? I think I've been through every story listing page PS and no sign of it yet. I'm going to try SQ next.

The PS anniversary should be fun! I can't wait to see what they've got planned. I wish I had been more active in its heyday, though.

I hate when guests just sit there waiting to be waited on as it is. Not sure who M is, I think I missed something there, but it does sound trying.

The story of M, my brother-in-law, and his kids, can be found here, if you want to get the backstory: http://govcampbell.livejournal.com/143529.html.

I warn you, it's TL;DR.

Homemade fanfic audiobooks? I have to try this, when I'm not squinting at the computer! (I had a dilated eye exam today.)

I think unless M was on the phone with his lawyer, or someone else crucial and time-sensitive, he was being annoying. I hope it gets better!

It's pretty awesome, but you need a smartphone, or maybe it would work with a Ipod touch that does apps, or something. But I'm pyched with it. :D

Well, hello there!

ReadBookz. Wow. I had no idea that such a thing existed. They're that advanced these days, in translating text into speech? I guess I should have guessed, maybe.

Can you point me at this FLAG site that downloads fan fiction into epubs?

Phoenixsong is pretty much dead these days, isn't it? Most of the HP sites I'm familiar with have dried up as far as I can tell.

Yeah. ReadBookz is cool, and I'm sure it's not the only TtS app out there.

There you go. It works with SQ and PS.

PS is quiet, but not gone away entirely. There are still fics being posted there. The forums went quiet, because the Mods were getting a ton of spambot applications every day, so they shut them down. They also have a Facebook page now.

Thank you for the link!

It works with SQ and PS.

Portkey too. ;-)
